This map of Io is in Lambert Conformal Conic Projection and covers longitudes 270 to 180 degrees and latitudes 66 to 21 degrees. It was constructed using black and white image data from the Voyager and Galileo spacecraft and coloring the resulting map with the the color channels from lower resolution color images taken by Galileo. Images used for the map are selected for maximum detail and not for current appearance. Io is the most active body in the solar system and surface features are changing in short times.
